What is a power flush?

This is a chemical solution that cleanses your central heating system. It removes debris and rust from inside the pipes which could be causing the system not to be working efficiently. If left untreated it can cause you serious problems to your heating system because overtime this unwanted dirt can cause your radiators to not give out sufficient heat and in time the boiler could break down completely.

By having a power flush done to your central heating system will extend the life of the system and boiler ensuring it to work more efficiently.

Signs that you need a power flush?

  • If you are aware of excessive noise coming from the boiler or the heating system pump
  • Your boiler keeps breaking down and needs to be restarted
  • The central heating system appears to be taking a long time to heat up
  • Only some of the radiators are getting warm
  • If the boiler is on and the radiators aren’t warming up
  • When you bleed the radiator no water escapes
  • Or if you bleed the radiator and the water is discoloured.

Before having a new boiler installed it is recommended that the whole central heating system has a power flush.

It is advisable to have a power flush every 5 years to keep your boiler working efficiently.

How long will it take to complete a power flush?

Depending on the size and the complexity of the heating system it will usually take 1 day to thoroughly flush a heating system .

A power flush should be carried out by a suitably qualified engineer
